The weather hasn’t been kind to Glen Eden.
After announcing their opening for Monday, December 26th, a massive snow storm caused a power outage, which forced Conservation Halton and the staff at the Milton ski-hill to delay the opening by a day. Then, shortly after, a December heatwave caused all of that snow to quickly melt – leading Glen Eden to announce that it has closed for the start of January.
The challenging weather we have seen at the beginning of the season has forced us to pivot our operations. With the most recent weather conditions and the upcoming forecast, we will be forced to close Glen Eden on January 2, 3, and 4.

A follow-up tweet says the plan is to keep fingers crossed as they wait for temperatures to drop. Looking at the forecast, Environment Canada doesn’t have a high below zero until Monday, January 9th. The low on Wednesday, January 4th will drop below zero though, which could provide some good fortune for Glen Eden.
The local ski-hill ends the Twitter thread by ensuring that the safety of visitors and staff is their number one priority.
Thursday, January 5th is their projected re-opening date.
Our commitment is always on keeping our visitors and staff safe and right now, we do not have the proper weather conditions to ensure this focus. We’re aiming to re-open on January 5 – weather permitting.
