We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last week:
On Monday, December 19th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Third Line and Speers Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 29-year Niagara Falls woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Britannia Road and Tremaine Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of North Service Road and Highway 407 in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 57-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired.
On Wednesday, December 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of North Service Road and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 67-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, December 22nd, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Westview Terrace and Fourth Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 21-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
