Today is December 21st, which marks the winter solstice.
This will technically be the shortest day of the year, and tonight will be the longest night of the year. It’s also the first day of winter!
According to Google, we can expect this evening’s sunset to be at 4:47 p.m. Every sunset after today will be progressively later and later.
The dark nights of winter are often attributed to what is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder, or coincidentally enough SAD. It happens when a lack of sunlight and other factors affects one’s energy and mental health. If you’d like to learn more about it, you can click here.
Enjoy the holidays, have a great winter, and drive safe through the snow that is expected over the coming months!
