Light Up Allendale (2020)
It’s nearly time to light up Allendale!
For the third straight year, Mustafa Sajid and his team of volunteers will be decorating Milton’s Allendale Long Term Care Home (LTCH). The idea stems from a series of COVID-19 outbreaks that led to province-wide shutdowns during the holiday season in 2020. This meant that families were unable to visit their loved ones in places like a LTCH. Sajid then decided to decorate the courtyard at Allendale on Ontario Street South to brighten up the days of those inside. You can learn more about that here.
Sajid is hoping that residents can make monetary donations to help pay for the decorations and lights. He says over the last two attempts, they’ve lost 10-15% of their lights each year.
Residents can volunteer their team if they’re available. Decorating begins on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Allendale at 185 Ontario Street South.
