A 19-year-old Burlington man is facing a long list of charges after a gunshot was fired at a local condo building.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says that on Monday, December 5th, at roughly 8:40 a.m., two suspects forced their way into a condo unit in the area of Dundas Street and Sutton Drive in Burlington. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. There were two occupants in the condo at the time. The suspects were confronted by one of the occupants of the condo and an altercation ensued. During the incident a gunshot was fired. The shot did not strike anyone and no physical injuries were reported. Both suspects fled the scene in a red Kia.
Investigators were able to identify one of the suspects and his vehicle was located in a residential area in Burlington. On Tuesday, December 6th at roughly 10:00 p.m., a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed at a residence on Whittaker Drive in Burlington. As a result of the warrant, investigators seized quantities of cocaine and fentanyl.
19-year-old Savion Beckford-Salmon of Burlington has been arrested and charged with:
- Break and Enter
- Pointing a Firearm
- Discharging a Firearm
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Breach Undertaking
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
Beckford-Salmon was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Thanks to the efforts of the 3 District Street Crime Unit, 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau, Tactical Rescue Unit, K9 Unit and Mobile Surveillance Unit, this dangerous offender is now in custody.
Efforts to identify and locate the second suspect (described only as a black male) are ongoing at this time.
