After losing four of their last five games, the Milton Menace went into Brantford’s Main Gretzky Arena with hopes of breaking their slump.
Things didn’t go their way immediately. The 99ers scored first at the halfway mark in the first period. It was 1-0 Brantford after 20-minutes of action.
The second period saw a bit more back and forth play. The 99ers scored at the 1:57 mark on a penalty shot to make it a two-goal game. The Menace answered right back with a goal by Aidan Hughes, assisted by Thomas Gordon. Brantford then scored again, with the Menace answering the call once again thanks to Lucas Buzziol. That was assisted by Hughes and Gordon. It was 3-2 99ers after two periods.
The third period was where Milton shined. Buzziol tied the game 8:54 into the third, with help from Hughes and Cory Liu. Just over a minute later, Justin O’Donnell would score the go ahead goal, assisted by Connor Driscoll. Driscoll then scored a goal of his own just 21 seconds later, assisted by Owen Kindree and O’Donnell. The Menace would win 5-3.
In net for Milton was newcomer Logan Kennedy, who stopped 22 of 25 shots, good for an even .880% save percentage.
The Menace are now 15-3-0-2 through 20 games. They have 32 points on the season, and sit in second in the North/West Conference behind the Collingwood Blues, who also have 32 points in just 18 games.
With just one day of rest, the Menace head to Toronto to take on the Jr. Canadiens on Saturday, November 12th. They are the best team in the entire Ontario Junior Hockey League, with a record of 19-3-0-0 over 22 games, giving them 38 points so far this season. That game will start at 8:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Pond.
The next home game is on Sunday, November 13th. The Menace face the Markham Royals. Game-time is slated for 6:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be foundĀ here.
