We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last week. Two of them involved Milton:
On Monday, September 12th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Linmouth Terrace and Falmouth Terrace in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 21-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, September 12th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a collision in the area of Asleton Boulevard and Tight Court in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Milton resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, September 14th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fourth Line and Wyecroft Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Waterdown man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, September 15th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a collision in the area of Appleby Line and No 2 Side Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, September 16th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mountainview Drive and Ontario Street North in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old Milton was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
