We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton on the long weekend. One of them involved Milton:
On Thursday, June 30th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Oakville woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.On Thursday, June 30th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Howard Road and Plains Road West in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old Windsor man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, July 1st, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Miriam Crescent and Hammond Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, July 1st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fourth Line Nassagaweya and 30 Side Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 51-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Sunday, July 3rd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Harvester Road and Walkers Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 58-year-old Hamilton was man charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, July 3rd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of No.15 Side Road and Eighth Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 64-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
