We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton on the weekend. Three of them involved Milton:
On Friday, June 3rd, just after 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 2 Side Road and Cedar Springs Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, June 4th, just after 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Hospital Gate and Dundas Street West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, June 4th, just before 3:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Market Drive and Martin Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, June 4th, just after 4:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Dundas man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, June 4th, just before 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Main Street East and Ontario Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, June 5th, just before 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Cavendish Drive and Amesbury Crescent in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Brantford man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, June 5th, just before 6:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Steeles Avenue and Tremaine Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
