The Townsend Smith Hospice Foundation (TSHF) is ecstatic coming out of its Hike for Hospice event.
The annual fundraiser was held at the Milton Sports Centre earlier this month, and they had upped their fundraising goal as high as $35,000. The money raised will help the organization in their mission to finalize a deal for its hospice location.
Fundraiser coordinator for the foundation Mallory Crippen says that while they fell short of their goal, they’re still proud of the work done.
Crippen adds that it was nice to just be back in-person for events again.
For several years, the foundation has been scouring North Halton to find the perfect location for their potential hospice. That led to many possibilities, whether it was the old train station on Chris Hadfield Way, and a location within the Milton Education Village on Tremaine Road where the Wilfrid Laurier University/Conestoga College Milton campus is being placed.
The TSHF is also holding a weekly Catch the Ace raffle. It’s a progressive 50/50 raffle, meaning there are two separate winning piles: the weekly pot and the main jackpot. Each week, a winner is chosen and a card is pulled. If it’s not the ace of spaces, the winner only wins the weekly pot. If they pull the ace of spades, they win both pots of cash. Portions of the raffle tickets sold also go to the TSHF.
Draws are every Friday at noon until the ace of spades is picked. To participate and buy your tickets, click here.
