Remember this 100-year-old train caboose-turned tiny home in Campbellville?
CTV News is reporting that the caboose was purchased by an Oakville woman for $45,000. The caboose is being called the cheapest house in the GTA, and it’s now going to a 64-year-old retiree.
Laurel Wynne told CTV that she wasn’t looking forward to the high rent prices that come with the GTA, and was looking to save some money in her retired years. While she wasn’t looking to purchase a home per say, she did come across what she felt was the perfect situation for her.
It’s reported that on top of the $45,000 price tag, Wynne will be paying the landowner in Campbellville just $500 in rent. With the structure previously being used as an office for a limousine company, there are renovations that are needed to make it livable. The real estate agent of the structure also noted that plumbing can be added to the area to improve the structure as a home.
Would you live in a tiny home? It does seem to be an idea that is growing in popularity as real estate prices continue to balloon in the area.
