We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last week. One of them involved Milton:
On Monday, April 4th, just after 1:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of No. 20 Side Road and Nassagaweya-Esquesing Townline in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 48-year-old Acton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Wednesday, April 6th, just before 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sargent Road and Mountainview Road South in Georgetown. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Georgetown man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, April 6th, just before 12:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Walkers Line and Dundas Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Milton woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, April 6th, just before 2:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Bronte Road and the QEW in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Fort Erie woman was charged with operation while impaired.
On Wednesday, April 6th, just after 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Appleby Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 42-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, April 8th, just after 12:30 a.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 58-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
