Milton Menace fans cheer the team on during 2019-2020 season
It took almost the entire season before the Milton Menace had their first tie of the season.
On Saturday night, the Menace took on the Oakville Blades at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in the penultimate game of their season.
The game opened with Andrew Horsley of the Menace scoring a goal, assisted by Jordan Stock and Ryan Holmes. The first ended 1-0 for Milton.
Oakville would tie the game in the second period.
Menace player Holden Rogers then took the lead for Milton with a goal one minute into the third. It was assisted by James Barbour and Thomas Gordon. Oakville then tied the game again. It was 2-2 after 60-minutes, sending the game to overtime.
Two periods of overtime were not enough as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Regular back-up Ryan Dugas stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Menace. Milton put on 49 shots on the Blades goaltender.
Milton is 35-11-1-6 for 77 points in 53 games. They’re second in the West Division and fifth in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Milton will now play the Burlington Cougars in Burlington on Tuesday night to wrap up their season. They then get ready for the franchise’s first playoff birth, with the first round expected to begin on Saturday.
