We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last weekend. Three of the cases involved Milton:
On Saturday, March 19th, just after 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bronte Street South and Ruhl Drive in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, March 19th, just before 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cooke Boulevard and Masonry Court in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, March 19th, just before 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Britannia Road and Sixth Line in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Brampton man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Saturday, March 19th, just before 2:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Costigan Road and Laurier Avenue in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, March 20th, just after 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ewing Street and Hewson Crescent in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 42-year-old Caledon man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, March 20th, just before 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queen Elizabeth Way and Dorval Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
