A 40-year-old Wingham man is facing a fraud charge following an investigation into alleged financial misconduct at the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada in Milton.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Financial Crimes Unit began its investigation in August after receiving allegations that the former Secretary of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada had submitted fraudulent expense claims and improperly redirected funds intended for the Diocese into accounts under his personal control.
Following an extensive investigation, police determined that the alleged activity resulted in financial losses exceeding $200,000.
On Wednesday, October 21st, investigators arrested and charged 40-year-old Jovan Marjanac with:
- Fraud Over $5,000
