The Burlington Festival of Lights is expanding this year with a 30- to 35-foot signature tree at Spencer Smith Park and a city-wide holiday lighting tour inviting residents to showcase their own displays.
The Burlington Lions Club, which took over the festival in 2025, says the new tree will serve as the centrepiece of the park’s display, while partnerships with organizations such as the Aldershot Village Business Improvement Area will help bring holiday lighting to other parts of the city.
Burlington’s Brightest Lights Tour will invite residents to decorate their homes and apply to become official stops on an interactive map of holiday lighting displays. Participating homeowners will be featured as local lighting destinations, with one household earning the title of Burlington’s Brightest and a $1,000 prize package.
Residents and visitors will also be able to check in at participating locations for a chance to win weekly prizes throughout the festival season.
“We want the Festival of Lights to be something every part of Burlington can see itself in,” says Olivia Duke, President of the Burlington Lions Club. “The new tree gives us a place to gather in the park, and Burlington’s Brightest Lights Tour puts the festival on streets and front porches across the city. Every display that goes up is a neighbour inviting someone else to enjoy the season.”
The additions are part of a multi-year plan by the Lions Club to develop the festival as it marks its 31st year.
The Burlington Festival of Lights runs from November 27th to January 3rd, with the opening tree-lighting ceremony scheduled for November 27th at Spencer Smith Park. Residents interested in participating in Burlington’s Brightest Lights Tour can apply here before the October 31st deadline.
