IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. in Barrie has received a $100,000 donation from resident William Foskett to help fund a replacement transport bus for seniors living at the facility.
The contribution will support the purchase of a newer, fully accessible vehicle as the organization’s current bus ages and struggles to meet the growing transportation needs of residents.
The bus provides residents with opportunities to visit local stores, go grocery shopping, and participate in recreational outings, helping maintain independence and social connections for those who can no longer drive themselves.
Foskett says he was inspired by seeing fellow residents enjoy the excursions.
“We are deeply grateful for Bill’s generosity in making a meaningful gift that will help us achieve a long-term goal of replacing our aging transport bus with a newer, fully accessible model that can accommodate more residents and additional wheelchairs,” says Garry Hopkins, CEO of IOOF Seniors Homes. “His heartfelt contribution ensures that the purchase of a new bus will soon become a reality for our residents.”
IOOF Seniors Homes continues to raise funds toward purchasing the new vehicle. The planned bus will accommodate more residents and additional wheelchairs, improving transportation access for those living at the facility.
