The Milton Menace had an up-and-down weekend.
On Friday, October 16th the Menace welcomed the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to the Milton Memorial Arena.
It was the Sabres who got on the board first, opening the scoring six minutes into the game. They would carry that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Menace turned it on. It took Cam Lang less than a minute to tie the game, with Seth Vreugdenhil following that up with a goal of his own. Milton led the Sabres 2-1 after 40 minutes.
Jacob Norman and Nathan Catalano added to the lead in the third period to give the Menace a 4-1 win.
Austin McKillop was once again in net. He continued his hot start to the season, stopping 27 of 28 shots for the .964% save percentage and the victory.
It was a quick turnaround for the Menace as they travelled down the 401 to take on the Mississauga Chargers on Saturday, October 17th.
Luca Spano helped the Menace out early, giving them a quick 1-0 lead in the first couple of minutes. The Chargers eventually tied the game in the first, making it 1-1 after 20 minutes of playing time.
In the second period, Chris Soares would get the lead back for Milton. That made it 2-1 heading into the final frame.
Soares would add to the lead in the third period, but Mississauga would not be denied. In just a three minute span, we’d have a tie game and that would send it to overtime, 3-3.
The Chargers would get the deciding goal in extra play, giving the Menace their first loss since September 25th.
Austin McKillop was back in net for weekend double duty, stopping 29 of 33 shots for the .878% save percentage in the losing effort.
Next up for the Menace is a road game against the Burlington Cougars on Friday, October 23rd. Game time at the Central Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Menace have a road stretch for several games, before finally returning home on Friday, November 6th to host the Toronto Patriots. That one will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Memorial Arena.
