The countdown is on for the 2026 Municipal Election.
Leading up to the big day, we are reaching out to all ten mayoral candidates for Milton to discuss their platforms and some key topics affecting residents.
Each candidate will be asked the same questions, and the interviews are being done on a first-come, first-served basis.
Here is our interview with mayoral candidate, Chéz Amun.
Q: So, let Milton residents get to know you a little bit. Provide us a quick breakdown — an elevator pitch — on your platform/campaign. Why should Miltonians vote for you?
Q: Well, speaking on that growing community, Milton is very famously a community that has grown quickly. Where do you stand on the growth of Milton, from a development sense, when considering the recently approved Official Plan?
Q: In a similar boat to growth, let’s talk about job creation. It’s been said a lot that Miltonians live here, but work elsewhere in the GTA. Should you be voted in as mayor in three weeks time, how would you improve job creation in Milton so that residents can make their hard earned wages closer to home?
Q: Support local has been a big focus for Milton residents, especially in the last few years. What is your plan to help local businesses if you were to voted in as mayor?
Q: The big hot topic of 2026 is artificial intelligence. Data centres are popping up, impacting communities in negative ways. The last Milton Council even addressed the possibility of a data centre in our community during a meeting at the end of their term. Where do you stand on these data centres, and possibility of one maybe one day being in Milton?
Q: Now, one of the first things you would be tasked with doing as mayor following the election is helping work on the budget with your fellow councillors and Town Staff. What’s your plan for the annual budget, when considering the need to provide services while Miltonians want a low tax rate?
Q: Before I let you go, is there anything else you’d like to say to Miltonians that I haven’t asked about?
