Halton Healthcare has launched a new five-year strategic plan outlining its priorities for healthcare across Georgetown, Milton, Oakville, and surrounding communities.
The 2026–2031 Strategic Plan responds to changing healthcare needs as Halton’s communities grow and become more diverse. Halton Healthcare says the plan builds on its existing foundation while looking beyond hospital walls to create a more connected, accessible and coordinated system of care.
“Our communities are changing quickly, and the way we deliver healthcare must evolve with them,” says Melissa Farrell, President & CEO, Halton Healthcare. “This plan is about building on what we do well while thinking differently about what comes next. By working more closely with our partners, embracing innovation and investing in our people, we can make care easier to access and navigate while continuing to deliver on our mission of extraordinary care, close to home.”
The plan identifies four strategic goals for the next five years:
- An integrated continuum of care in collaboration with partners
- Reimagined high-quality care delivered both inside and outside hospital walls
- An empowered and modernized team to serve patients and families
- A dynamic applied learning and research environment that brings leading practices into everyday care
Halton Healthcare says the priorities are intended to advance its vision of a connected health system delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
The Strategic Plan was developed using input from patients, families, community members, staff, professional staff, learners and volunteers. Their feedback highlighted the importance of stronger partnerships, innovative models of care, improved use of data and technology, investment in healthcare teams, and continued attention to quality, safety and equity.
“This plan challenges us to think differently about what’s possible for healthcare in our region,” says Dr. David McConachie, Chief of Staff, Halton Healthcare. “It’s an opportunity to explore how and where we deliver care, embrace new ideas and innovations, and work across the health system to create better experiences and outcomes for the patients and families we serve.”
