Residents in Georgetown and the surrounding area are being asked to reduce their electricity use during planned Hydro One transmission work this weekend that could result in temporary power interruptions.
The work is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, from 9:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 27th. During that time, two major transmission lines that normally supply about two-thirds of Georgetown and the surrounding area’s electricity will be temporarily removed from service.
Hydro One says its goal is to maintain electricity service throughout the planned work. However, if community electricity demand exceeds the reduced supply capacity during the work period, some customers could experience a temporary interruption to protect the stability and reliability of the electrical system.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by reducing electricity use during the work window. Suggested steps include charging essential devices ahead of time, planning electrical usage and ensuring backup power arrangements are available if needed.
The planned transmission work is related to the Highway 413 project.
