A Milton golf event brought together dozens of women while collecting hundreds of pounds of food for residents experiencing food insecurity.
The 6th annual Greystone Ladies Friends Day, organized by Pam Piotrowski and hosted at Greystone Golf Club on Dublin Line in Milton, brought together 85 women for a day focused on golf, community, and giving back.
Together, participants donated 950 pounds of non-perishable food items to be distributed weekly through the St. Benedict Parish Food for Life Program. Carolina Rey provided Purolator bags to help the participants transport their donations.
Rey is also the coordinator of the 6th annual Purolator Tackle Hunger Red Bag Campaign. Red bag distribution takes place from Wednesday, September 23rd to Sunday, September 27th. Residents who receive a red bag are encouraged to fill it with non-perishable food items.
Filled bags can be left on porches on Saturday, October 3rd, for Purolator drivers to collect between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The Food for Life program operates every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, located at 300 Yates Drive in Milton. Neighbours experiencing food insecurity can visit the church during that time to access fresh produce, meat, bread, and non-perishable food items.
