The Milton Menace were looking to stay undefeated heading into a home match-up against the Wellington Dukes on Tuesday night.
Things started off strong for the local team as Paul Mazanik was able to pot his 2nd of the season, assisted Chris Soares (2), Dallys Hibbert. The powerplay goal gave Milton a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Soares quickly added a goal of his own. His 2nd of the year was assisted by Wyatt Calway and Seth Vreugdenhil. Wellington then responded with three unanswered goals to round out the second frame. It was 3-2 Dukes after 40 minutes of action.
Luca Spano tied things up for Milton in the third period. His 1st of the season was assisted by Calway and Jacob Norman. The defence couldn’t keep the puck out however, and that led to a quick Wellington goal. They’d add an empty netter before the final whistle to make it a 5-3 loss for the Menace.
Austin McKillop was back in net for his 4th straight start to open the season. He had his busiest night so far, stopping 30 of 34 shots for the .882% save percentage and the loss.
The Menace will hit the road on Friday, September 18th when they take on the Niagara Falls Canucks at the Gale Centre. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
