A Milton resident is celebrating a $257,439.90 LOTTO 6/49 win after landing the second prize in the August 5th draw.
Pedro D. is originally from Brazil. He moved to Canada about 10 years ago, and has been playing the lottery with OLG for years.
He stopped at a store to pick up a few things when he remembered he had a lottery ticket to check.
“I handed it to the clerk and she scanned it for me,” Pedro shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his windfall. “Then the machine froze and I heard the winning tune. I didn’t know what was happening! I knew I’d won a big prize, but I didn’t know how much until I saw the amount on the validation slip. I couldn’t believe it! The other customers in the store started congratulating me.”
The father of three and grandfather of three plans to put his winnings toward his dream of opening a Brazilian bakery.
His winning ticket was purchased at Ricomart on Gordon Krantz Avenue in Milton.
