The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is among the police services that partnered in Project Time, a coordinated province-wide child exploitation investigation that resulted in the identification and protection of more than 50 children.
The initiative was led through the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet (Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy), bringing together police agencies across Ontario to identify and arrest individuals involved in the creation, possession, and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
As a result of the investigation:
- 63 people were arrested
- 213 criminal charges were laid
- 814 electronic devices were seized
