The Town of Milton has begun work on its Safe Roads – Traffic Calming and Raised Crosswalk Implementation Project, with construction expected to continue through August.
This project will improve road safety by installing new speed cushions, raised crosswalks, and cushioned pedestrian crosswalks at multiple locations throughout the community.
Work includes speed cushions on:
- Armstrong Boulevard
- Etheridge Avenue
- Woodward Avenue
Speed cushions will also be installed on either side of pedestrian crossovers at locations:
- Sauve Street
- Bennett Boulevard
- Dixon Drive
- Farmstead Drive
- Leger Way
- Tupper Drive
- Whitlock Avenue
Raised crosswalks will also be installed at more than 20 locations across Milton:
- Coxe Boulevard
- Bolingbroke Drive
- Farmstead Drive
- Bronte Street South
- Dixon Drive
- Kennedy Circle
- Louis St. Laurent Avenue
- Savoline Boulevard
- Scott Boulevard
- Woodward Avenue
- Yates Drive
Some of those streets will have multiple locations across several intersections.
No full road closures are expected during construction. However, motorists should expect localized lane closures, with one lane of traffic remaining open at all times.
The Town advises residents that construction schedules are weather dependent and encourages motorists to plan ahead, follow posted signage, allow extra travel time, and use caution when travelling through work zones. Updates will be provided through the Town’s interactive road closure map.
