Shoppers in Halton Hills and Milton are one step closer to getting a new Costco location.
Halton Hills Council approved plans for a major retail development near the municipal border. They voted to allow the project to move forward at the northwest corner of Regional Road 25 and 5 Sideroad. While the future tenant has not been officially announced, comments made during the meeting by the developer strongly indicated that the anchor store will be a new Costco Wholesale location.
Construction on the site is expected to begin as early as July. According to developer Rice Group, the goal is to have the store open by October or November 2027.
Rice Group CEO Michael Rice told council the schedule is tight, noting the site for the warehouse and gas bar needs to be prepared roughly a year before construction of the building itself begins. He also noted the retailer avoids opening new stores between mid-November and mid-March, adding additional pressure to meet the timeline.
The development will include the warehouse store along with seven additional retail units. The project is expected to create approximately 400 jobs.
