The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has released its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a rise in calls for service alongside continued declines in crime across the region.
According to the report, HRPS responded to 149,054 calls for service in 2025, marking a 3.9% increase over the previous year. Despite the increased demand, the service reported reductions in both violent and property crime, along with a significant decrease in auto thefts.
Police also reported improved investigative outcomes, with the crime clearance rate increasing to 35.4% in 2025.
The annual report includes detailed statistics on regional and district crime trends, as well as articles highlighting major investigations, community partnerships, and policing initiatives undertaken throughout the year.
The service was also recognized as one of the Greater Toronto Area’s Top Employers for 2025, marking the third consecutive year HRPS has received the distinction.
“Each and every day, I am reminded that our members, civilian and sworn, go above and beyond in the performance of their duties,” says Stephen J. Tanner. “It continues to be my greatest honour to work alongside them, and our Halton Police Board, to provide the support they need to carry out their roles and responsibilities.”
Jeff Knoll said the report reflects “meaningful achievements” tied to community safety and thanked residents for their continued trust in the service.
