The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a Waterdown woman in connection with two investigations tied to the equine industry in Milton.
Police say the accused allegedly used the alias “Hailey Wood” to arrange a meeting this month with a victim under false pretences. Investigators allege the suspect also contacted schools connected to the victim while impersonating them in an attempt to obtain confidential information.
After the victim became suspicious and contacted police, investigators identified and arrested Karly Tripp on Friday, May 22nd in Milton. The 30-year-old is charged with:
- Criminal Harassment
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The victim did not suffer any reported financial losses or physical injuries.
The HRPS also note that Tripp had previously been charged in April with theft over $5,000, fraudulently taking cattle, and injuring or endangering animals in connection with the alleged theft of a horse in Milton.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims or aliases connected to the cases.
Anyone with information in Halton regarding these investigations or Tripp is asked to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.
