An Acton resident is facing several charges following an intimate partner violence investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Police say officers with the Wellington County OPP responded to a reported intimate partner violence incident in Erin on Tuesday, May 12th, at about 2:15 p.m.
Following the investigation, a 41-year-old from Acton was charged with extortion, criminal harassment and harassing communications under the Criminal Code.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Guelph court at a later date.
Police have not released the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Anyone experiencing intimate partner violence or sexual assault can seek support through local organizations including Victim Services Wellington, Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis and the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care and Treatment Centre.
