The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested eight people and laid more than 50 charges following an investigation into a series of smash-and-grab jewellery store robberies across the Greater Toronto Area.
Police say the group targeted jewellery stores between January and March 2026:
- January 25th, Michael Hill in Burlington
- January 29th, Buy & Sell in Burlington
- February 4th, Barry’s Jewellers in Burlington
- February 17th, Charm Diamonds in Guelph
- February 23rd, Charm Diamonds in Brantford
- March 2nd, Charm Diamonds in Waterloo
- March 3rd, Barry’s Jewellers in Burlington
- March 6th, Karat Jewellers in St. Catharines and Michael Hill in Burlington
- March 16th, Michael Hill in Burlington and HW Williams (Hamilton)
- March 17th, Michael Hill in Barrie
Investigators allege the suspects used stolen vehicles with cloned licence plates, wore masks and balaclavas, and smashed display cases with hammers before fleeing with stolen jewellery. In one incident, a stolen vehicle was driven into a Burlington business, causing significant structural damage.
Police say no injuries were reported during the robberies.
The investigation, dubbed Project Pinnacle, was led by the Burlington Criminal Investigations Bureau. Officers executed six search warrants at homes in Toronto and Mississauga and recovered some of the stolen jewellery.
21-year-old Krishawn Scott of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Robbery (9 counts)
- Disguise with Intent (9 counts)
- Breach of Release Order
18-year-old Joshua Akhigbe of Toronto has been charged with the following:
- Robbery (3 counts)
- Disguise with Intent (3 counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
19-year-old Romario Angelo Abraham of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Robbery (4 counts)
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (4 counts)
- Mischief Over $5,000
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure to Stop after Accident
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (2 counts)
19-year-old Cassie Miller of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Release Order (2 counts)
21-year-old Adam Buttigieg of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Robbery
22-year-old Coulton Peters-McComb of Barrie has been charged with:
- Disguise with Intent
- Robbery
A male youth of Toronto has been charged with:
- Robbery (5 counts)
- Disguise with Intent (4 counts)
A male youth of Toronto has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
This investigation remains ongoing, and HRPS anticipates further arrests and charges in connection with additional robberies.
