Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) celebrated student talent and raised money for students facing financial barriers during its annual Students in the Spotlight fundraiser in Burlington.
The event was held on April 29th at Burlington Central High School. It featured 18 live performances by students from across the Halton District School Board, including singing, dancing, and instrumental music performances.
This year also marked the launch of a new student art exhibition, showcasing original work from 50 student artists throughout the evening.
Organizers say the fundraiser is part of HLF Month, a campaign focused on supporting students in need across Halton. Funds raised help provide emergency support for food, clothing, school supplies, transportation, and access to school opportunities.
According to HLF, enough money was raised during the event to provide 30 backpacks, valued at $100 each for students in need.
“Students in the Spotlight is a celebration of what young people can achieve when they are given the opportunity to shine,” says Marc Clare, HLF’s CEO. “Tonight was not only about talent, but it was also about coming together as a community to help remove barriers so every student has the chance to participate, succeed, and reach their full potential.”
