The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS)are investigating a violent home invasion in Burlington and a related attempted break-in in Oakville believed to involve the same group of suspects.
The incidents occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 22nd. At around 3:45 a.m., five suspects targeted a home in Burlington’s Roseland neighbourhood, smashing a glass panel on the front door to gain entry before confronting residents inside.
Police say the suspects demanded valuables, leading to a physical altercation in which one resident was struck in the head with an unknown object and required medical attention. The suspects fled the scene shortly after, without stealing anything.
Investigators believe the same group was involved in an earlier attempted break-in in southeast Oakville at around 3:00 a.m. In that incident, a resident reported hearing loud banging as suspects kicked the front door and used a hammer in an attempt to force entry. The suspects fled when the homeowner called 9-1-1.
In both cases, the suspects were seen travelling in a dark-coloured sedan and are described as five males with slim builds, wearing dark clothing, hoods and balaclavas.
Police are asking residents and drivers in the areas of Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive in Oakville between 2:45 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., and New Street between Walkers Line and Guelph Line, as well as Rossmore Boulevard in Burlington between 3:30 a.m. and 4:10 a.m., to review any surveillance or dashcam footage.
