Two teens are facing multiple charges following a multi-jurisdictional crime spree involving a stolen vehicle in Halton.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says the investigation began on Wednesday, April 15th, at about 6:35 a.m., when a delivery driver had his Toyota SUV stolen from a driveway on Kempling Lane in Burlington. The suspect, who arrived with another individual in a Toyota minivan, fled the scene in the stolen SUV while the second vehicle was later found abandoned on Bunton Crescent after a single-vehicle collision. Police determined the minivan had been previously stolen from Hamilton, and further investigation linked the suspects to a theft from a vehicle in Oakville earlier that same morning, where credit cards were taken and used at various locations.
Later that evening, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Hamilton and arrested two teen boys, aged 15 and 13.
The 15 year old has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
- Theft Under $5000
- Fraud Under $5000
- Failure to Stop after an Accident
- Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order (2 Counts)
The 13 Year old has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
- Theft Under $5000
- Fraud Under $5000
- Failure to Stop after an Accident
- Fail to Comply Being on an Undertaking
Both accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton, and their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
