The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is warning residents about the risks associated with the annual Assassins Game, played by students across the region.
Officials say the game, which typically takes place each spring, involves elementary and high school students “hunting” one another using water guns or Nerf-style toys in public spaces. Officers say these activities can occur during both the day and evening, and in some cases, the toy weapons closely resemble real firearms.
Police note that in previous years, members of the public who were unaware of the game have contacted authorities, prompting emergency responses and creating unnecessary concern. Officers say these situations can pose safety risks and lead to potentially dangerous interactions.
Police are strongly discouraging youth from participating in the game and are urging parents and guardians to speak with their children about the risks and the importance of making safe decisions.
