The Town of New Tecumseth is moving forward with plans to replace the Boyne River Pedestrian Bridge in Alliston.
The project will see Tatham Engineering Limited design a replacement for the aging bridge, which is nearing the end of its lifespan. As part of the early stages, field investigation work is set to begin this spring and will include surveying the roadway and surrounding area, reviewing nearby features such as trees and fences, conducting environmental tree surveys, completing an archaeological assessment, and carrying out geotechnical investigations including borehole drilling.
The Town says the work will help inform the design and planning for the new structure ahead of construction.
Construction of the replacement bridge is currently scheduled to begin in 2028, with more information available here.
