Residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and help remove invasive plants during an upcoming community cleanup event in Milton.
Sustainable Milton is hosting a Cleanup and Invasive Plant Removal event on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m. to noon along the Indian Creek Trail, located across from the Sherwood Community Centre on Main Street. Participants will focus on removing buckthorn, an invasive species known to crowd out native vegetation and negatively impact local wildlife habitats and food sources. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided, and student volunteer hours are available for those who take part.
Organizers recommend wearing long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and closed-toe shoes, and note that all participants must complete a waiver and permission form in advance unless they have already done so earlier this year.
