United Way Golden Horseshoe
A new regional United Way organization is set to launch this week, bringing together four chapters under one banner to strengthen community support across southern Ontario.
The newly formed United Way Golden Horseshoe will officially begin operations Wednesday, April 1st, combining Brant United Way, United Way Haldimand & Norfolk, United Way Halton & Hamilton, and United Way Niagara into a more connected network aimed at addressing growing social needs.
The merger is designed to enhance collaboration and coordination across the region, while maintaining a strong local focus. Officials say funds raised in each community will continue to stay local, and existing teams will remain in place to support residents, partners, and donors.
“I am incredibly excited to share with our communities that our United Way’s are joining forces to better serve our local communities we serve and support that is critically needed,” says Brad Park, Interim President and CEO. “The launch of United Way Golden Horseshoe is about strengthening what already works.”
Park added that while the organization will operate under a new name, the same local relationships and on-the-ground support will remain a core focus across Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk, Halton, Hamilton, and Niagara.
Local leaders are also expressing confidence in the transition, including Frances Hallworth, who called it “an exciting moment” that builds on strong community relationships, and Beth Luciani, who noted the move will strengthen local impact while benefiting from a more connected regional approach. George Araujo added the decision reflects careful planning and a commitment to supporting local partnerships.
The new organization will continue to fund programs that address key issues such as poverty, housing instability, food insecurity, mental health, and social isolation, while also working to improve coordination among agencies across the region.
