Parents and guardians preparing for kindergarten can access important busing and safety information for the upcoming school year.
Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS) has released details as registration continues for the 2026–2027 school year at both the Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board. The information outlines transportation eligibility, safety procedures and how families can prepare their child for riding the school bus.
Students must live more than 1.6 kilometres from their designated school to qualify for busing, with eligible students automatically assigned to a bus route. Families are reminded to notify schools if their child will not be using the bus, and to ensure all contact and address information is up to date. Kindergarten students who ride the bus will receive identification tags to help drivers ensure they board and exit safely.
HSTS also offers a First Rider safety program to help new students learn how to safely board, ride and exit the bus, along with important safety practices.
Transportation details, including bus routes and pickup times, will be available through the Parent Portal in late August, with families encouraged to review all information ahead of the start of the school year.
