A Burlington man is facing multiple charges following a hit-and-run incident at a Guelph business earlier this month.
The collision happened the evening of Monday, March 9th in the parking lot of a business on Speedvale Avenue West. Investigators say one of the drivers told the other party he was going to retrieve his documents before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed.
Police say the same man returned to the business on Wednesday, March 18th, where staff recognized him and contacted authorities. Officers attended and observed damage on his pickup truck consistent with the earlier collision. During a search of the vehicle, police say a quantity of suspected morphine pills was located in an unmarked bottle.
Investigators also determined the man was in the company of a woman he had been ordered not to have contact with on both occasions. A 45-year-old Burlington man has been charged with:
- fail to remain
- careless driving
- possession of a controlled substance
- two counts of failing to comply with a release order
- driving while suspended
- driving without insurance
- operating a vehicle without a permit
He was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday, March 19th.
