The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has charged the driver in this shooting.
On Sunday, March 8th, at about 12:29 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel in Burlington. Shots were eventually fired after the vehicle allegedly attempted to strike an officer. The driver was transported to an out-of-region hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 23-year-old of No Fixed Address now faces the following charges:
- Attempt Murder
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
He has been released from hospital and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating the officer’s involvement in the shooting.

A shooting in Burlington is now being investigated by the Special Investigations Unit.
On Sunday, March 8th, at about 12:29 a.m., Halton Regional Police Services (HRPS) officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel in Burlington. Shots were eventually fired following an interaction between the driver and officer.
The driver was transported to an out-of-region hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to the nature of the shooting, the SIU has taken over the investigation.
