Police are investigating a suspected arson after a tow truck and excavator were destroyed in a fire in Burlington.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says officers and Burlington Fire Department responded to a fire around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 26th on Morris Drive near Harvester Road.
The tow truck was reportedly hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with an orange Hitachi excavator when the fire broke out. Both the truck’s cab and the excavator were fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.
Investigators have since determined the fire was deliberately set. Police say three suspects were seen in the area driving a dark-coloured pickup truck.
Anyone who may have dash camera footage from the Morris Drive and Harvester Road area between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., or other information on the case, is asked to contact the Halton police 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316, or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Halton.
