A 71-year-old man from Burlington has died after a two-vehicle collision in Pelham earlier this week.
According to the Niagara Regional Police Service, officers were called to Victoria Avenue between Wiley Road and Foss Road at about 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 1st for a report of a crash involving two northbound vehicles. Investigators say a 2019 Lincoln MKX struck the rear of a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, forcing the SUV off the road and into a ditch.
The driver of the Equinox, a 71-year-old Burlington man, was taken to an out-of-region hospital with injuries initially considered non-life-threatening. Police say the man later died on Tuesday, March 3rd from injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Lincoln, a 21-year-old man from Wainfleet, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act at the time of the crash. No other occupants were in either vehicle.
