United Way Halton & Hamilton (UWHH) says more than $337,000 has been raised through its 2026 Sleepless For Our Community event to support local programs addressing poverty and housing insecurity.
The event was held overnight on Friday, February 20th, participants (including individuals, families, workplace teams and community leaders) spent the night sleeping in their vehicles in an act of solidarity. Funds raised will support United Way-backed programs focused on housing stabilization, food security, employment readiness, financial literacy and wraparound supports for residents facing financial hardship.
President and CEO Brad Park said the need across Halton and Hamilton continues to grow, with more families struggling to afford rent and groceries. He noted the funds will help strengthen social supports that can make the difference between crisis and stability, while also addressing the root causes of poverty.
Organizers also thanked an unnamed local philanthropic family that matched all funds raised over $150,000, significantly increasing the event’s impact.
Fundraising continues until March 2nd. Learn more about UWHH here.
