The Town of Halton Hills has received a $50,000 donation from the Georgetown Slo-Pitch League to support upgrades to local baseball diamonds.
The contribution was formally recognized during a cheque presentation with representatives from the league and the Town. The funding will go toward improvements to existing baseball diamonds and will benefit all baseball organizations using Town-owned facilities, including baseball, fast-pitch and slo-pitch programs for players of all ages.
Founded in 1990, the Georgetown Slo-Pitch League is a non-profit organization made up of approximately 55 adult teams. It offers a range of recreational and competitive opportunities through its co-ed league, men’s 35+ league and competitive men’s league. The league has a long-standing tradition of reinvesting in local sports infrastructure.
“Georgetown Slo-Pitch League is proud to support improvements to local baseball facilities that benefit players of all ages and levels,” says league president Jamie Chouinard. “Giving back to the community and investing in quality sport infrastructure has been part of our commitment to Halton Hills for more than 30 years.”
Over the years, league contributions have supported the construction of ball diamonds and a multi-purpose building at Trafalgar Sports Park, dugout covers at Eighth Line Community Park, and general ball diamond improvements across the municipality.
Mayor Ann Lawlor thanked the league for its continued partnership and commitment to community sport, noting the donation will enhance the quality and accessibility of baseball facilities throughout Halton Hills.
