The Waterloo Regional Police Service has laid additional charges in connection with a series of retail thefts involving Jellycat stuffed toys across Southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.
In December 2025, a 52-year-old woman from Guelph was arrested in connection with the theft of Jellycat toys from a business in Kitchener. At that time, approximately 140 toys were recovered. The woman was initially charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
- Trafficking in Stolen Property
Following further investigation by the WRPS General Investigations Unit, police allege the woman, working with a 43-year-old Kitchener man, stole approximately 300 Jellycat toys valued at more than $15,000 between April and December 2025.
Investigators identified 34 thefts from 17 businesses located in Waterloo Region, Guelph, Burlington, Milton, Georgetown, Oakville and Orangeville. Police allege the stolen toys were resold through an online buy-and-sell platform.
On Friday, January 30th, the Kitchener man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
On Wednesday, February 11th, the Guelph woman was arrested again and charged with:
- Theft Over $5,000
- Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
