The Toronto Police Service has arrested a Burlington man in connection with an alleged online threat targeting a rally held in Toronto over the weekend.
Police say they became aware on Friday, February 13th, of a threat made on social media related to the Global Day of Action in support of Iran’s Lion and Sun Revolution, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 14th.
Investigators allege the accused posted an online message threatening harm to rally participants and stating intentions to attend the demonstration with a firearm to prevent the gathering.
Prior to the event, members of 32 Division, Intelligence Services and the Emergency Task Force executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in Burlington.
56-year-old Michael David Holland was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
