The Milton Menace had an up-and-down weekend after two tough match-ups.
On Friday, February 13th, the Menace travelled down the road to take on the Burlington Cougars at the Central Arena.
It was the Cougars who got on the board early, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead. Thankfully, the Menace got one back on the board thanks to a last second goal from Ivan Fabjan. That made it 2-1 Burlington after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Burlington would add to the lead before the Menace kickstarted their comeback. Tristan Tremble and a second goal from Fabjan made it 3-3 with one more period to play.
The Cougars then took back the lead in the third, but Milton piled on the offence thanks to goals from Fabjan, Tremble, and Jason Zhou. The Menace beat the Cougars 6-4.
Austin McKillop was in net for the Menace. He stopped 23 of the 27 shots, giving him the .851% save percentage and the win.
Milton then returned home on Sunday, February 15th to host the first placed Toronto Patriots at the Milton Memorial Arena.
Easton Lynds and Wolf Giles got on the board in the first period. Toronto was also able to score twice, making it 2-2 after one period of play.
In the second period, the Menace were able to add to their lead thanks to a goal from Dean Deligeorgis. That’d be the high point of the game for Milton, as the Patriots stormed back and scored five goals to end the frame. It was 7-3 Toronto heading into the second intermission.
Ivan Fabjan added to his hot weekend with a goal in the third period, but that’d be all for both teams as the Patriots beat the Menace 7-4.
Austin McKillop was back in net for the Menace. He stopped 20 of 25 shots before being chased in the 2nd period. That gave him just an .800% save percentage and the loss. Hayden Duncan entered the game in relief and stopped just five of seven shots for the .714% save percentage.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Menace as they hit the road on Tuesday, February 17th to take on the Georgetown Raiders. Game time at the Mold Masters Sportsplex is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Menace return home on Friday, February 20th against the Caledon Admirals. Game time at the Milton Memorial Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
