Halton Women’s Place is inviting the community to an evening of elegance and advocacy with their upcoming gala, The Venetian Ball.
The masquerade-style fundraiser builds on the success of last year’s Crystal Ball Gala, which raised more than $200,000 in support of the organization’s Bridge to Hope Housing Program. Proceeds from this year’s event will again support Halton Women’s Place’s emergency shelters and outreach programs, which provide safety and assistance to women and children experiencing intimate partner violence.
According to Halton Women’s Place, intimate partner violence remains a significant issue locally and nationally. The organization reports receiving more than 2,000 crisis calls each year from across Halton, while nationally, a woman or girl is killed every 48 hours in Canada due to gender-based violence.
Guests attending The Venetian Ball are encouraged to wear a masquerade mask as part of the evening’s theme, reflecting the idea that “behind every mask is a story of strength.” The event will feature formal dining, entertainment and opportunities to support the organization’s ongoing work.
The gala will take place on Saturday, February 21st, at the Oakville Conference Centre. Tickets are available here.
Anyone in need of immediate support can contact Halton Women’s Place’s 24-hour crisis lines: 905-332-7892 for Burlington and Oakville, and 905-878-8555 for Milton and Halton Hills. Online chat support is also available.
