With Black History Month approaching, the Milton Public Library (MPL) is highlighting Black history, culture and achievement through several events and programs in February, including a hands-on event for local teens.
As part of its Black History Month programming, the MPL is hosting Black Brilliance: Making Posters for Black History Month, an in-person activity inviting teens to explore the contributions Black individuals have made to society. Participants will work collaboratively to research influential Black figures from areas such as art, science, sports, culture and law, and create informational posters that will be displayed at a Milton Public Library branch throughout the month of February.
The program is designed to encourage learning, creativity and meaningful reflection while providing a welcoming space for youth to engage with Black history in a hands-on way. Teens who take part will also be eligible to earn volunteer hours.
The event is open to youth ages 13 to 17.
Black Brilliance: Making Posters for Black History Month takes place Saturday, February 7th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Program Room at the Sherwood Branch of the Milton Public Library.
